A Year in the South Chilterns

Red Kite over Swyncombe Downs

Article text
The Ewelme Loop of the Chiltern Way is a lovely walk to do in summer. The walk takes you from Ewelme up the edge of the southern end of the Chiltern escarpment to Park Corner, then back through Swyncombe and lovely St Botolph's church and back over Swyncombe Downs and a glorious ridge to Ewelme to complete the circuit. On this particular day the sky was blue, the crop fields a golden brown and red kites were wheeling on the thermals on the escarpment edge.
