A Year in the South Chilterns

The delicate white heads of cow parsley shine out in the evening light

Article text
In late May and early June I particularly enjoy walking the lanes that radiate out from Stoke Row. The sides of these lanes are festooned with frothy white cow parsley and the heads of the flowers glow like white stars in the evening light. This photograph was taken about a mile down Cox's Lane - a lovely country lane that links Stoke Row with the road to Nuffield. Although the lane can be very muddy at times, after a dry spell it makes a lovely peaceful evening walk. If you continue and cross the Nuffield road towards the little hamlet of Homer, you can walk another quiet lane to the King William Pub at Hailey, with a view down off the Chiltern hills
